HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (April 13, 2015) – Approximately 1,727 acres of timberland in Alabama’s Madison and Jackson counties will be offered in a sealed bid auction ending Thursday, May 21. Woltz & Associates is marketing the property and will manage the sale.
The land, which includes oak and other merchantable timber, is being offered in 21 tracts ranging from 33 acres to 369 acres.
“Because of limited access to the tracts, we expect this land to appeal especially to the owners of adjacent land, who may wish to expand their existing holdings to have larger amounts of land either for harvesting the hardwoods or for hunting,” said Charlie Wade, who is managing the auction for Woltz.
“As surrounding land owners know, this is excellent deer country. In Jackson County, hunters reported harvesting 541 deer during the 2014-2015 season, and 330 of those were bucks. Even Madison County, which has more urban land, reported 423 deer taken, including 263 bucks,” said Wade.
Wade also noted that the published minimum bids per acre are as low as $250. “None of the minimum bids are higher than $750 per acre, so landowners will be able to enlarge their holdings at very reasonable prices. These low minimums reflect the seller’s commitment to getting them sold,” he said.
Bidders must complete a fully executed Sealed Bid Auction Real Estate Purchase Agreement and have it delivered to Woltz & Associates, Inc. on or before 3:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, Thursday, May 21. The agreement is contained in a bidders’ packet that may be obtained by calling the auction company at 540-342-3560 or visiting www.woltz.com.
