C.R. Mayer lands major Auburn University Village door contract
BIRMINGHAM, AL (May 21, 2009) -- C.R. Mayer & Company and Special-Lite Doors have landed one of the biggest orders in Special-Lite history with the contract to provide doors and entranceways to The Village, Auburn University’s new upscale 1,700-bed student residence.
The order includes not only approximately 120 doors, but complete entrance systems, some of which were among the largest frame assemblies Special-Lite has ever provided. Mayer ‘s proposal was selected as part of the overall project designed by Williams Blackstock Architects.
“The Special-Lite doors met the needs of the project perfectly. A student residence requires doors that will hold up in heavy traffic areas, and we’re delighted that a local representative firm like C.R. Mayer could play such an important role in The Village,” said architect Stephen Allen of Williams-Blackstock.
“This is an important event in the history of the firm – one of our largest projects ever and, in fact, one of the largest ever for Special-Lite. We were fortunate to be able to provide doors that were specifically created to serve the educational markets, which require a great deal of durability, without sacrificing beauty. Special-Lite had the ideal doors for The Village,” said Mayer.
